Jesus Does All Things Well
The title of this post reflects the praise of my heart as God has repeatedly demonstrated its truth in my life. Jesus is always faithful! As David expressed in Psalm 18:30, God’s ways are perfect. In fact, that personal knowledge opened the door for one of the first opportunities to share my testimony in Awake Cafe.
As I mentioned in my first blog post, people regularly look at me funny when they hear about my move to Detroit. Such was the case when one of our regular customers learned I had just relocated from Florida. He bluntly, yet kindly, told me I was crazy and said God must have sent me. Accurate conclusion. So, I shared about the Lord’s guidance. Even though I don’t understand how all the details of my call are going to work out, I trust my Shepherd. He does all things well!
That particular encounter did not revolve around the Gospel specifically, but I was so happy to tell about God’s faithfulness! I recall the following words of a well-known song: “On the witness stand of your life, I’ll be the first to testify that Jesus never fails.” I wish I could properly credit the author, but I found a discrepancy in attributions online. Nevertheless, the words echo the cry of my heart. Join me in praying our customer, John, will come to know God faithful in his life, too!
Another customer (Joseph) shared with me his love of philosophy. I took an introduction course for my bachelor’s degree, so I have a very foundational knowledge. He asked what my favorite part of the class was. I shared a few funny memories, but then said the best part was studying worldviews, especially in comparison and contrast to Christianity. While serving Jesus is not all about reason, I truly enjoyed discovering the logic behind God’s Word. His truth makes sense of the deep questions in life, i.e., the problem of suffering, the purpose of life, etc. We both enjoyed the conversation, and Joseph expressed interest in future chats. Pray that God will guide me and help me stretch my knowledge further to reach others for Him.
The picture below was snapped when I was talking to Joseph.
Changing subjects, I got to see several family members over the last week. My cousins from Florida came through Detroit in their travels, which allowed me to give them a rundown of the ministry here. They also brought up some stuff from Florida that I wasn’t able to bring with the allowed luggage on my flight up north. Shout out to them for being so kind and saving me a lot of money! We are pictured together below.
I also visited with my some of my dad’s side of the family due to my grandpa’s passing. It was unfortunately because of a sad occasion, but I did enjoy seeing my relatives again. I got a lot of questions about my current ministry. One might think I get tired of the same questions from different people, but that’s certainly not the case. My heart leaps with joy to tell about how Jesus saved my soul and led me to Detroit to tell others of His redeeming grace! It’s so wonderful it never grows old!
The funeral for my grandpa also brought my parents to the area since the service was just a few hours out from my house. We enjoyed a day of sightseeing together. Although I usually try to keep my blog posts focused on ministry, I’ll bring this one to a close by sharing one last picture. This is what my mom got when she asked me to take a picture with her. 😜
I did take a nicer one afterwards. 😄
Until next time, may your heart be encouraged in knowing Jesus does all things well! May His Kingdom go forward in each one of our hearts!
